How is the gold price calculated?
The global spot price is quoted in US dollars per troy ounce (XAU/USD). Local prices are derived by converting XAU into the local currency using the current FX rate, adjusting for gold purity (24K, 22K, 18K, etc.) and the local weight unit (gram, tola, baht, kilogram).
Why do gold prices change every day?
Gold prices react to changes in the US dollar, interest rates, inflation, central-bank policy, geopolitical events, and physical demand from jewelry markets. Prices trade 24 hours a day across major markets.
What is a troy ounce?
A troy ounce is the standard unit for precious metals, equal to 31.1034768 grams — heavier than the everyday ounce (28.35 g). All international gold quotes use troy ounces.
Is 24K gold better than 22K?
24K is purer (99.9%) but soft. 22K (91.6%) is more durable and better for jewelry. For investment (bars & coins), 24K is preferred; for jewelry, 22K or 18K is more practical.
